Just started my road to recovery
Hello everyone.
I had an episode on 11/12/2014 that made me realize that I'm an alcoholic. I'm only 22, but I have alcoholics on both sides of my family so I wanted to nip this in the bud. I'm not sure what all to do. I'm going to AA tomorrow. I'm really nervous... any advise?

Hey Sarrano- Welcome! Also, congrats on your decision to take care of this problem early on.
I don't think you really have much to be nervous about. Personally, I think that being as young as you are, and having the wherewithal to get the problem under control at this young of an age, is something pretty impressive.
Anyhow, there's a lot of support here, and I look forward to seeing you around.

Also I suggest you describe your episode.. I think it will be eye opening for you to actually put it down in writing, and I think people will be able to give you more personal insight.
Do whatever you're comfortable with though.

Welcome Sarrano! I first went to AA at 24. The progression of alcoholism can be faster for some of us.
In regards to AA, I will pass on the advice I was given. Look for the similarities not the differences! I can hear my story listening to an 80 year old old timer or a newcomer. Alcoholic is alcoholic! As a young woman, stick to the females. And as sugarbear said, ask about young people's meetings. There are all ages in the fellowship and you will find what you are comfortable with. Above everything else, keep an open mind
Welcome to the forum. I find this a great support alongside AA.
Let us know how you get on at your first meeting! Glad you are here

Welcome, Sarrano
I was nervous at my first meeting, but I just sat and listened, it was fine. Hardest part was going in through the door, but after that it was ok.
Well done for doing something about your drinking at such a young age. You won't regret it.
