Bad day

I'm super depressed and angry today. Crying over everything if Im not just staring blankly. I feel so pathetic and unloved. I'm not drinking. I can't wait to go to sleep. I hope tomorrow is better. I feel like I'm hanging on to a thread.

Bad days like that are common in early recovery. How long has it been since your last drink?

I am so sorry. Depression is bad. If you feel like this tomorrow, maybe see a doctor? Again I'm sorry. I know how days like that can be.

i am so sorry for your rotten day, Chrysalides. I hope you can give yourself a huge pat on the back for not drinking and making a rotten day worse than it already is.

I remember feeling that way early on too. We go through so many stages as we heal. Thankfully, it usually takes care of itself, but I agree to seek help if it continues.

Chrysalides, I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. However, you should be proud of yourself that you're not drinking. Tomorrow will better than it would be if you drank. Hang in there. *hugs*

I have my first appt with a therapist this week. I wasn't sure if I needed one but I know I do now. I've been depressed before but not like this.

It can be an emotional roller coaster ride for a while, Chrysalides, and down days here and there can be a part of that ride but if your depression continues a visit to your doctor might be a good idea.

Glad that you posted.

I know how you feel. Seeing a therapist should help you get some tools to deal with days like this. Sending you hugs!

It's good to cry, cry it out. I felt horrible and desperate last week. I left the house feeling out of touch with myself and so lonely I went on a long walk crying and praying to a God I'm not sure exists, begging for guidance. I spilled my guts out to this God and after a while felt a lot less lonely and the nature walk did me a lot of good, too. I went back in the house feeling much better and called an old friend I haven't called in a long time. Much better than lying around in agony as I've been prone to do often in life I hope you find something that makes you feel better.

I felt like that all week, it's horrible. Stay as comfortable as you can, and call your doctor if it doesn't improve. It's good you're going to see a therapist, that can really help put things in perspective. And yes, crying is good. I cried all the way through my LifeRing meeting last week, which was a little embarrassing, but it did help a bit. Hang in there and take good care of yourself even if you don't feel like it.

Thanks everyone. Today is a bit better. Not great but better. Think this is just something I have to work through.
