Anybody who quit Adderall

or any other rx amphetamine, that they used daily for over a year...

Can you please give me an idea of what your withdrawal was like, how long the most acute physical symptoms lasted, any general tips for getting through this? Please personal experience only, not wikipedia or friend of a friend. Please no opinions on ADHD.

FYI~ Dr prescribed, always took rx dose. On day 5 without. Not happy but doing ok. Please don't tell me to talk to my dr or "taper" as the odds of me trusting any dr at this point are basically zero. I am happy to elaborate as to why I won't do a taper dose.

Sorry so brusque, I am in a bad mood today. Right now I basically wake up, eat breakfast, shower, and then fall back asleep. After a 4 hour nap I get a few errands accomplished. Last night I had dinner at a restaurant with my brother, which I thought was pretty good for Day 4. It made me really hopeful for today... only to start nodding off from the heat of the blow dryer. I can handle "psychological" withdrawal effects... but trust me this isn't in my mind. And I wouldn't call it "fatigue" either, it's just plain SLEEP.

Right now I have no choice but to call in to work as I'm afraid to even drive.

Additional info- women will understand- I am supposed to start my period today so I'm sure that's only making things worse!!! I'm hoping once it starts that will help.

I am just praying that day by day this improves. I'm sure there are people here with experience?

Thanks all

Thanks SW I appreciate the input.

Thanks Anna
I'm not totally new here, I joined back in September (I think) when I stopped drinking. I had actually had a pretty solid block of time not drinking before that. I'm doing pretty good with that

My ex is still on adderall. I had to leave him because of it.

I really hope you stay sober. It's a scary drug.

I have hope for you

Thanks Hunter

You did the right thing!!! It's the worst thing I've ever put in my body. Ever.

I'll definitely stay off it- it's all tossed, and I've never purchased anything from a dealer like that.

I appreciate the vote of confidence. Pretty much everyone encouraged me to keep seeing the dr, who switched me from ir to xr, to vyvanse (which is adderall) at a higher dose..... I just want to be done with it and back to the old me. I actually started drinking again on Adderall, which I think is kind of common. Boo.
