Drank again

My daughter left for a trip Thursday night. I had a plan to stay sober but failed.

She comes home tonight. I'm going to a meeting before I pick her up. Still trying to get this right.

I hope going to a meeting will help you in your desire to stay sober.

Thanks. I love going to the meetings. Don't know why I didn't just go this weekend.

Glad you like meetings, they can save you.
It took me awhile to get sober even while attending meetis, so you're not alone.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Just keep on trying.

Keep coming back... No matter how many times you may fall, at least you are trying to do the right thing.
Meetings, meetings, meetings! Meeting makers, make it.
My advice, get a sponsor and get involved in your recovery (12 steps), this will greatly increase your chances of success.
Good luck.

Still working on that. What I'm doing differently today is I actually picked up the Big Book and am reading it. I find myself saying "yep" a lot.

stick with it Hombre. I certainly didn't quit the first time i tried. It's a tricky problem to solve. We feel pretty good, convince ourselves it's ok, we'll drink in moderation, and we deserve our reward because...
So we drink again, and then hours or days goes by, and we realize we listened to our own lies that this time will be different.

And we learn how easy it sounds to say we'll quit drinking tomorrow, how easy it is to condemn others who embarrass themselves who drink too much and say "jeez, THEY should quit." But then when we try, we see it takes a lot of effort and determination.
But you get stronger each time you fight, and with each fight youre getting closer to taking control of this problem before it's so big it can't be controlled.

Most people who give up drinking often can’t do on their first try; however the ones that are successful are the ones that keep trying no matter how many times they slip up. I also wanted to let you know that your honest post prevented me from drinking tonight. My son broke off his engagement with his fiancée and I was very emotional about it because I was so attached to her. I really wanted to drink tonight but I came on SR and after reading some posts I decided not to. Thanks!!!
