Favorite AV pick up lines

I hit 90 days yesterday and of course had the AV swagger over to me and whisper that I have proven I am not a true alcoholic now. So... Why not have some fun like everyone else. Holidays are coming after all. If I get bad again, just come here and dry out again...

I logged on to my class here and got past it. Thank heaven above.

The AV was also whispering, just simply stick to coors light, and stay away from the IPA. You will be fine, trust me.... Just don't start till 4 or 5 pm...

Well, now I am curious what the little AV says to you guys as a suave pick up line?

I think it would help to shut him down if we see that he says the same thing to everyone here!

Post yours if you feel me!

I like the idea behind this. A few of mine:

*The coast is clear. It's just the 2 of us so no one will ever know.
*You haven't drank in 93 days. You're not an alcoholic.
*You are an abuser, not a full-blown alcoholic so just 1 won't hurt."
*Moderate. It's so easy.
*You deserve it after a long day.
*You'll never be able to enjoy this concert without a beer.
*Forever? Who are you kidding?
*Only on the weekends.
*Start after 5:00 and stop at 9:00 so you have plenty of time to sleep it off.
*At least you're not that bad. (After reading certain posts)
*You're more fun when you drink.
*Everyone drinks. You'll be an outcast.
*Know what would make this moment more perfect? A glass of wine.

I could go on since my AV is a cold-hearted, ferocious, conniving, relentless "B". Thankfully though the longer I go without a drink the more muffled her voice becomes. I remain vigilant; however, because in addition to being relentless, she is amazingly patient & cunning as well.

That's a big one! Also (a bit ashamed to admit this one):

I've read so many terrible stories in here, so my AV keeps saying "You're not that bad. You're not like a lot of these people, of course you can have one or two."

I read a lot about NLP last year, so I'm trying to anchor all the great feelings I'm having sober, and visualizing my AV as an annoying 2-year old, kicking and screaming for chocolate at the supermarket. I never give in to temper tantrums.

Congrats on three months sober!

After almost five years sober my AV has nothing to say anymore.

After a lot of sober years with 99.99% of the time not having a thought of drinking my AV is still alive. While watching TV ads I occasionally see one and wonder quietly “I wonder what that tastes like?’’ fortunately within seconds I think of where that kind of wondering could end up.

BE WELL

  • Life is too short to wrap yourself up in this sobriety crap.
  • You work hard, it's ok to relax once in a while.
  • You haven't drank for x days. If you only drank every x days that would be fine.

Good Job Determined!

I am at only Day 4 but I think you and me had the same drink of choice in our PAST drinking days and your AV sounds like the same beast that has the same spell on me. Tell the AV Shut it and stay in It'S CAGE!

Thanks M.S.

Mine hangs out with Stella's:

"You are not so bad... People even say it!"

So I say:

"Shut the $&@? up! I'm on to you and I don't drink anymore!"

We all have that AV but we don't have to engage it or listen!

You are not an alcoholic, you were just going through a stressful time

100% nonsense^

All these people in AA who seem like they have things in order etc.. Didn't get sober til they were x, so I can still do that down the road and drink still for now

I was never that bad

You need to keep drinking to find your true bottom, can't get sober til that happens anyways

Awwww you poor thing, you deserve a drink

Look at how good you did doing ____ , reward yourself

It will be different this time. It won't get the best of me this time.

My favorite one (when I was 4 months sober): "this quitting drinking is so hard, maybe you should have a drink to make it easier"

"Wow! You have alcohol related gall bladder disease. That's tough news to take. We should have a drink to ease the bad news"

And how can we forget this classic:

"Just one."

Ignore it. Congratulations on 90 days! It gets easier.

Congrats on 90 days determined!
My favorites "You have been sober x days. If you drink you can always start over again tomorrow. It's not that big of a deal". It's then the same thing the next day after relapsing.
"You've done so well and have got this sobriety thing under control, you deserve a beer".
