Hi I am new.
I have a problem with painkillers. I have known for a year, and it started a good few yrs ago. Now I'm out of control.
I don't know where to turn.
Nobody can understand what I am going through.
So here I am. Hoping someone can help.
Maybe you had same problem and have weaned off them, or are finally clean.
I never thought I would be an addict.
It's shameful, embarrassing and I have no one to talk to.
I feel silly coz I don't touch hard dugs I'm not doing anything illegal, yet I'm as addicted as they come.
I don't even know where to begin!
Pls talk to me.

You'll find a ton of support here...I'm an alcoholic myself, but you'll find lots of others here with experience and stories to share like yours

I would talk to a Doctor and they might try to ween you of the pills. My issue has always been alcohol. Good luck you can do this.

Wow that was a quick response, thanks everyone.
I'm really bad trying to navigate so yes pls any tips.
It took me five mins to just find my original post and see if any responses.
I have tried finding chat sites online for painkiller addiction and this was main one.
I will keep trying.
My doctor knows I have an addiction.
Says to not go cold turkey I have to be strong and wean down.
I have a great psychiatrists, who currently I see every fortnight for high anxiety, and I have a med for that to help.
When I take that I'm good and have no need for painkillers.
But I'm meant to use it for night time as I don't sleep.
But if I take a tablet during then day I don't feel like I need painkillers.
It's very confusing sorry.
I in a toxic rlship and I know he makes me want to numb the pain and block him out.
I just want to get some support to help me wean off painkillers, them xanax isn't a problem.
They aren't killing my stomach!
Somewhere do I start?
Cut down 1 tablet, cut half....
I'm so lost as to what to do...
I function like a normal person, I raise my 3 young kids well, nobody would ever expect what hell I have in my head.

Did your Dr give you any guidelines on tapering down at all?
