I need some advise
I am new to recovery and new to this forum. Tried to quit several times but I just keep going back to it. Killed an entire bottle of vodka on Sunday and I cant remember a single thing about the day. How long does it take for the physical effects to go away? The stomach pains, muscle cramps, joint aches, and all the other horrible side effects of this cursed drug?
Welcome, FixerUpper! I would suggest that you join our November thread. We are all fairly new to recovery and many of us are still fighting the early stages of withdrawal. I think you will find lots of support and understanding there. And as for the pains you mentioned, I haven't experienced those symptoms, but they sound terrible. Take good care, and please keep posting.
welcome to the forum, the real answer is IT DEPENDS.
a younger person could recover more quickly than an older person who drank for 40 years. your physical condition plays a part. lots of variables.
the important thing to remember is that improvement starts the day you stop drinking and continues to improve with time. your body can't heal over night from something that has taken years to damage it. but to be sure, if you keep drinking it definitely will not get better.
quit drinking and life improves dramatically.

Hey FixerUpper- Welcome! This site offers a lot of support, which can be a huge help when you're first stopping.
For me, it was within two weeks total, however most of it ended within the first week. (Shakes, night sweats, problems sleeping, etc...)
I wish you well on your goal pf sobriety, and I hope to see you around.

Hi ,Fixerupper
Welcome to the forum. Do you have a plan in place for yourself to help you to stay off the drink this time ?
Read around, there's lots of advice, support and info here.
I'm glad you joined us. There's lots of support and useful info here. My withdrawals usually lasted four or five days. After that I started feeling better, tho had to work on the mental obsession.
