Dont have to drink

I'm on day 25 now, feeling very good. Still thinking a lot about drinking but after doing a lot of reading I found something which helps me coming through the difficult times.

I have changed the thought "I cannot drink" into "I do not have to drink" and "I'm free from alcohol" and I do not worry about how and when to get my next drink or hiding myself with my drinks. This is a total different approach and it helps me a lot. Which does not mean I do not think about drinking anymore but I look at it from a different angle.

And now I really looking forward to a 10 days holiday end of next week together with some heavy drinkering friends and it does not even freightens me! On the contrary ....

Should you be putting yourself in an environment with heavy drinkers? Congrats on the 25!

Great job on 25 days, and thanks for the "reframing" tip. I'm looking for ways to approach sobriety as freedom from alcohol rather than a deprivation.

Reading Allen Carr helped me a lot. You need to read it with an open mind and just take out what you like / need. But it helped me to change my ideas about not drinking.

Thanks, Muffin2! I've heard Carr's book mentioned so many times. I'm going to pick it up.

Hey Muffin2, nice job with the 25 days!
"I cannot drink" into "I do not have to drink"...
I'd even include "I will not drink" to the mix.

Way to stay strong!
