I'm going to get some sort of help regarding my road to sobriety and was just wondering what you guys found most helpful in your recovery? Meetings? Or counselling one on one?

Also is it possible to do it alone without help?

I would strongly suggest looking up a meeting schedule and going to one as soon as possible. It's the cheapest alternative...

Doing it alone without help is very difficult. Meeting based recovery like AA or others can be very helpful, as well as online support like SR. Bottom line, use whatever support you can.

I had the same internal debate when I began all of this and decided on AA for a couple of reasons. It was cheaper, even though I have insurance, I have to pay the deductible. And I didn't want alcoholism on my history (weird, I know). I love AA now and may look into one on one therapy for other issues in the future, I hear that a lot of people in AA do therapy as well.

I've done both as well. It really helped to have an alcohol counsellor. He helped give me some direction and was able to get me into some provincial programs that I didn't have to pay for. And it was actually nice to have someone to talk to about things I had never discussed with anyone else.
