I try have 10 to 15 days off a month. I generally do it in days in a row. Getting started is the challenge.
My brothers Birthday today, he died of liver failure. That will be motivation today to start.

Well, if I may ask, why do you 'need' to take time off? If drinking is causing issues, do they go away for a couple weeks? And why then return to drinking?
I'm just trying to get a handle on why you go back and forth on the drinking-go-round.
Have you considered just giving up the grog for good? Then you'll never have to deal with that first day again. Guess I'm just perplexed on why you take planned time outs and then go back to it.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I really recommend you get more involved here - maybe join the Class of November support thread?

Sober32 - sorry I missed about your brother. My apologies. So sorry to here it.
Maybe your brother would be smiling down if you decided to quit for good.
sure the liver is an amazing organ. But if you keep pissing it off (something a doctor I know says) it may decide to turn on you. Over time it will become more difficult to reverse the damage done.
give it some serious thought. And as Dee suggests, check out the November newcomers thread.
Best wishes.

the only thing i can say to you is there came a point with my drinking were i couldnt stop and start again
drink got a hold of me good and proper i only wish i had turned to help and found a way off the drink for good as the result in my life was just one huge disaster that i never ever wanted to happen
i still think i was a lucky one though even though i lost so much with drinking as the one thing i didnt lose was my life through liver problems and other health issues that come with the drink
