I need a break

I am having ridiculous thoughts since I woke up this morning...

I am physically tired, not enough sleep last night. And emotionally tired, anxiety, cravings, mood swings.

My AV keeps telling me to take a break from it all for a day. I can go back to "the struggle of getting sober" tomorrow...

I want to squish my AV with a flyswatter, it just won't shut up!

Our AVs know us intimately; after all, we trained them.

Your AV know that you are tired, moody, anxious and it is taking advantage of this and LYING to you.

So many people have told of that one drink leading to a bottle or that one day leading to months, years, decades.

Tell your AV that you are wise to his tricks and won't fall for his empty promises!!!!!

Ice cream. Lots of it. It always fixes whatever ails me. It may sound too easy, but try it. It seems chocolate works best.

I recommend Rocky Road

^^insert your own pun

The obsession to drink, or escape the struggle of getting sober, doesn't go away by drinking. It only gets worse.

Push through to the other side. The AV is relentless, but they are only thoughts. You might not be able to ignore it, but you don't have to do what it says.

Patricia are you early on? I struggled in the very early days of these thoughts but it has gotten easier. Sobriety had to be top priority for me though and I focused on not letting anything steal that from me! Hang in there. I agree with ice cream or a special dessert! I went for dinner the other night with some coworkers who had a couple of drinks. For a little bit I was jealous sure. They finished their drinks and we spilt a huge chocolate cake and ice cream dessert. It was perfect.

I can do all things through he who strengthens me

If you were hot, would you turn UP the thermostat?

If you are thirsty, would you eat some saltines?

If you see a fire would you dump gasoline on it to put it out?

All ridiculous statements of course, but your AV's idea of drinking to take a break is just as ridiculous if not more. Not only will drinking not be a break, it will make everything worse. See your AV's BS for what it really is.

Hang in there my friend...we have to get through the moments. It will pass...you will get through. Get to the other side. Keep getting to the other side.

Patricia, the only way to win this is to ignore the AV, so it will lose it's hold over you.

Hi Patricia, I read something on a post yesterday, I think it was by Nonsensical (sorry if I'm wrong) that we need to "STARVE IT" to make it go away. This has resonated deeply with me makes so much sense. STARVE not feed the beast of AV! X

I'm having a hard time with AV right now also Patricia. I'm glad we ate both here and posting and fighting ouour AV's. Let's just get through today, tomorrow things will be better.

I'm thinking of a small nap and if that doesn't work some ice cream. Thank you all for your suggestions!!

You guys are amazing. I wish I could hug each and everyone!

The day is not over yet, but I am feeling much better. Thank you!

I still have knots in my stomach, not sure if I can eat yet, but I'll try some ice cream as soon as I can relax a little.

Thank you so much

Well it's almost 8pm, I'm about to have a nice bath and go to bed early. I can safely say I made it. AV seems to be quiet now, actually it must be frozen with all the ice cream I ate!

Thank you for another sober day guys

Oh and thank you Haagen Dazs!

Great job, Patricia! Brava!! I find that going to bed early and getting some rest is sometimes the best choice for a bad day. And think how rested you'll be tomorrow.
