Dealing with guilt in early sobriety

Hey guys. Today has been a wild ride. I start volunteering Friday at the wildlife rehab center, so I tooted around on my pink cloud for a while.
You know what, screw this. Could someone who knows me from this site with a year or more under their belt please private message me? I'll be up another 20 minutes and I need to talk this out.

What kind of guilt are you trying to deal with? I had a lot of guilt about my actions when I was drinking - things I did, things I said, things I should have been doing or saying that I didn't. The common issue with all of them of course was drinking. The solution was to accept that the only way to ever have a chance to repair those bridges was to quit drinking. And to accept that it's possible that there are some things I can never fix. But I can make sire I don't go down that path again and cause more damage. We have the power to change today,

Are you talking about guilt or shame? Guilt is "I have done something bad" and shame is "I am bad".

Shame is the nasty door prize that comes with pride.(ego) We believe we are too good for our failings ( I would never join a club that would have me as a member). Accepting ourselves as we are is the only way to get better. If we continually start from a false self ( the person I think I should be) we do nothing but a bunch of useless mental gymnastics, including excessively kicking ourselves around.

The past is the past, apologize for it and try to move on. Hopefully friends and family understand. I've found that dwelling on the past can be a major trigger. All you can do is be sober today.
