Day 5 & grateful
Hi all,
Just quick check-in. Just finished a nice 5 mile run, right before the rain came. Writing this with some legal endorphins flowing still. Cancelled my pending business trip so I can get a few weeks sober before venturing out too far. So nice to have this forum to talk about this. Grateful today for:
1) Health still really good despite the alcohol binging since 05.
2) Have a really great career going - didn't screw that up (yet).
3) Must have been the Grace of some higher power, but dodged a lot of bullets during last years of drinking as should have had: PI's, DWI's, divorce, fired, car-motorcycle crashes, death, etc. etc.
So to all those struggling today - please hang in there. For me the past 5 days, it's sometimes living simply hour to hour, as my brain & best reasoning isn't often my friend.
Peace out, MJM

Hey HOUMJM- Nice job with the first five. I sense some real determination in your post, and it's great how you're taking note of all of the benefits of not drinking as well. I think it's also great how you're also aware of the pitfalls of drinking too much, which can destroy our lives within a moment.
I look back at the MANY, MANY, MANY times that I drove DUI, and God only knows how I never harmed anybody. One wrong move, and your life, as you know it, may never be the same.
Nice job!

Hey well done Houmjm.
If I read your old posts correctly, you had a very long period of sobriety before your current struggle.
Have you got any notes or journals from that sober time you can use to remind yourself what you were doing to stay sober then and see if there any tools you can put to good use now?
