Hi everyone. I'm 28 days sober today, and finally felt comfortable introducing myself. I've been lurking the threads all month and they have helped immensely! I went to my first AA meeting the other night, and I'm meeting with a new counselor on Friday, so I feel like I have a lot of support right now. Yay!

I've known for years that my drinking is a big problem, but I told myself that if I could make it 30 days without drinking, then it means I can control things and I'm not an alcoholic. Ha!! What a joke! It took me a solid 26 days of white knuckling it to realize that, yes, I AM an alcoholic, and I really want to quit drinking for good. I'm so grateful for all the resources available to help me tackle this. So, here I am, saying hi! And thank you to everyone who has posted their experiences. They've helped me so much.

(also, if I posted this in the wrong place, I apologize, I'm not a very tech savvy person)

Nice decision and one which I think you'll come to really appreciate. I also knew that my problem had gone on for far too long. I also thought that I could not drink if i wanted to, but there were very few days that I was not drunk. That's no way to spend your life.

Between AA and SR we (many) can stay stopped! You don't have to white knuckle it anymore, there is a solution....
