Day 2

I had a pretty good day today. Still feeling intense guilt about my drinking episode on Sunday, but I got a good night's sleep, had a good day at work, and cooked dinner for my family. Next, is homework for the kindergartener and bath time for both kids. Still grappling with doing outpatient rehab or AA. I've had previous bad experiences with AA, and all the outpatient rehabs require 12 step support (at least those that I've called). Right now I'm reading regularly, and am on lockdown at home-only able to travel to and from work and without my wallet. It's a pain, but if it's what I need to detox (I've never had serious withdrawals, I'm not a daily drinker) and get some sober days under my belt, I'm willing. I do have a doctor's appointment next week.

I did have some intense cravings on the way home from work, but without any funds I had to just deal with them and go home. As soon as I walked in the door I felt better.

Thanks for the support, and the kicks in the butt yesterday!

Hi Amanda, it sounds like you have renewed resolve. I don't know what your experiences have been with AA. I did inpatient rehab followed by AA so I can't weigh in on suggestions going one way or another. I currently attend at least one or two AA meetings a week for face to face contact and come on here. It has been working for me. I've met a few really supportive women through AA who I call or text regularly to help keep me accountable.

Good luck! With two little kids it is a challenge but can be done. I've got a nine and a six year old.

Hey amanda! Well done on day 2!
AA didn't appeal to me so I'm reading Rational Recovery and using AVRT. Also taking the herbal supplement kudzu which is supposed to reduce cravings.
Glad you are still here and posting!

Thanks everyone! Waking up ready to take-on day 3! It feels great to wake up feeling good, even though I still want to stay snuggled under the covers. Guess I'd better get going.
