In my younger years I was actively seeking strategies to keep me off that 4th drink. If I could just have 3, that would be OK. It was that 4th drink when I would get carried away and the trouble would start. 20+ years later I found the only successful strategy to not have a 4th is to not have a first.

Just one beer becomes 100's in a matter of days!
I long ago realised that I simply cannot moderate! When I first had that realisation I actually felt a sense of relief, no more trying the impossible, instead I would give total abstinence a try, which can be tricky, but certainly isn't impossible!
