How to make wd easier?

I am trying to get up the nerve to withdraw. I have probably an 80 to 100mg oxycodone daily habit. The money I'm spending on this is depressing. A friend gave me a 50mcg fentanyl patch to try. I put it on and by the next morning I felt almost normal without needing my morning bump. It's a 72 hour patch. I was thinking I could switch to those to separate the pill habit from just trying to feel normal. Honestly, I felt really "normal" the next morning. Not high, buzzed, just normal. Do you think this might be a step to detox from oxy? And then stop the patches?

There's no "easy way out" of withdrawals. Substituting one substance for another only prolongs the process. It's admirable that you are trying to quit..you should really see a doctor or counselor if you have withdrawal fears though. You'll find plenty of support here, and there is also a subforum specifically for substance abusers on the main page if you want to check that out. Be well and be safe!

What about seeing a detox specialist, doctor type person? I am sure your friend is great and all, but unless he is a doctor not sure I would go with it.

Tapering or cold turkey are the only ways I know for alcohol or opiates. Both are hard. I chose tapering for alcohol the last 2 times and it took all of me to stick to a schedule. Dr. may give something to ease WD if you can see one.

Man, you do not, not, not want to trade oxy wds for fent wds. Fent is top tier stuff and incredibly potent.

I did a ct off 100mg of oxy and it was fairly rough but doable for three days and then faded out. Way easier than fent from what I have read. Fent is a whole different league.

Sounds like they are working well for you.
It will be a much better life.
Shoot for it while you have the chance.

Hi and welcome to SR

Just so you and anyone else new reading know - by our rules we really can't give you any kind of medical advice here.

Why not get some professional medical advice, SJ?

I didn't know that !
I would not spend much time with those things !

If serious - we can wean off of most anything in less than a month.
Yes, Dee - under the advice of a doctor only.

Note - Dee does a nice job here on site - I must hand it to him.

The literature says it is 80 to 100x more potent than morphine and many times more potent than even heroin (5 to 15x). Its measured in micrograms not mgs. Its that strong. Fent is the last thing you want to mess with unless under a docs care.
