Rooting for you all the way, Mavis. You deserve to be sober and happy, my friend, but only you can give yourself this gift

Yes I am not going to drink
No seriously when I get stressed next time I'm going to use the tapping technique that my hypnotherapist taught me, and hopefully it will reduce the stress and get rid of the urge to drink. I will also post here every time that AV starts up. And going to start going to bed early as lack of sleep isn't helping with anything. And going to increase my kudzu to two a day and make sure I'm eating a balanced diet as I haven't been.
I also have a goal of losing 1.5 stone (21lb) before 20th December

You can do this Mavis.

A word of caution about the weight loss goal though. I had to learn than hard way that not only is that a lot of pressure to put on myself (not drinking, dieting, exercising) but hunger can be a trigger, especially the first month. I'm not a success story in either department (yet ) but I have found that sobriety has to come first. Also, I know some people do drop tons of weight once they remove alcohol- it would make sense mathematically- but it's not always the case. I know it isn't for me, and I've had to accept that (frustrating as it is).

Stay strong. Hugs to you

Hi
In AA it’s suggested, even for those sober for a good period of time, to try to avoid/reduce and be aware of triggers induces by the letters HALT.
Hungry.
Angry.
Lonely.
Tired.

BE WELL

fresh day. fresh new perspective.
I used to use alcohol as a "reward"...wow, rewarding myself with empty sugar calories, a bloated face and a hangover, what a "treat".

You deserve so much more than a glass of wine or beer promises you, it's a big fat lie.
If you can get out MORE and change up your routine, take 30 mins. for yourself to relax without distractions, it will be easier. (IDK the circumstances with your son)

Mavis, what are you going to do differently today to what you have been doing before?

I really hope this is your last Day 1.It can be,but you do need to look at doing something different, your way isn't working.

Let's do it josharon and jack!
Heath480 I'm going to use tapping technique when I get a craving or get stressed. There are some meetings in my area (smart recovery?) but they are 30 min drive and all around teatime which is no good as hubby doesn't get home till later he works shifts. So I'm gonna have to do this alone. I actually believe that I can do it though!

That's awesome Mavis you're getting back up and going back at it. I would also second what forabetterlife mentioned in terms of losing weight.
