so im in a long term psych ward been here for 4 months kicking methadone i am clean and sober today and i want to get started with the 12 steps...i know not everyone on this site follows the 12 step model but if you have a year or more in aa/na and have a working knowledge of the 12 and 12 please let me know if you could help out..

my DOC's are heroin and cocaine....if it matters.

i have no access to AA where i am, no groups come in which is a total bummer...i tried calling central service for boston to see if someone could help me but i had no success

You might want to ask in the 12 step forum Alcoholism-12 Step Support - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
I know some people there have gotten long distance sponsors.

Urge you to find someone with NA experience. There is a difference in that you really have best opportunity with someone who knows exactly what your going through, even if alcohol is involved.

You can read Big Book - and gain a lot of insight from Twelve and Twelve. Saw a gent pick up a 15 year chip a few weeks back who self sponsored. It is possible - maybe not ideal.

You are aware there's 12 step support on forum ?
Maybe start with this if your having difficulty.
