Some inspiration on here
It's amazing how long we live in denial as regards our drinking habits. Have drank most nights, although this became problematic after my father died 3 years ago. The illness was prolonged and I felt the only way I could sleep was to sink a half bottle of vodka and a couple of strong ciders.
My job is fairly well paid and involves me selling within large companies at a very senior level. Don't know how I've functioned as the hangovers I get leave me anxious and lacking the clarity required to present at that level.
But enough's enough. Time to knock it on the head and get back to prioritising my family and just as importantly my health.
Used to run regularly and okay a lot if football (soccer to most of you ), but this has been impacted greatly by my habit.
Can say that some of the stories on here have been truly inspiring and has been instrumental in making me know I can get truly clean.

Hello and a warm welcome to you!
Good for you. Yes, you can if you commit!
So, what is your plan. When you have that business meeting or when you have that craving. It's a big part of being able to handle it.
Form a plan to cope, and carry on with your great attitude! And keep posting and reading, SR is a wonderful tool!

Hey Scottishbhoy, welcome!
I think we all realize this at some point, however not everybody has the will to take action. It appears that you do, and I think you'll find a lot of support here.
You've made mention of a fairly active lifestyle. This might be a nice focal point to focus on, to help dissuade any temptations of drinking, as well as offer a better nights sleep. I know it's what really made a difference with me, when I stopped- and still plays an important role.
Hope to see you around often!

Many thanks to who replied.
There's no specific gameplan as I've never really countenanced on stopping for good until recently and that's more to do with family and my health.
But I'm enjoying the novelty of waking up in the morning clear headed and able to see things a lot brighter.
Forget the cliches, I may fall back into the habit of drinking, but the inspirational stories you people have written, specifically regarding how much better things are sober, have given me the strength to start.
