A stark reminder of what used to be
My son needed money for a field trip yesterday. I went to my wallet to see if I had any cash. Normally, I don't have any, so I anticipated having to go to the ATM.
Instead, I discovered a cash stash that I put away weeks ago, *just in case* I wanted that 40 oz. bottle (or two) at the end of a long, stressful day, and didn't want my bank statement to record the purchase.
I hadn't checked my cash amount since late September, before I ended my alcohol consumption for good.
It saddened and shocked me to think that: 1) alcohol was that much of a priority to me, and 2) that booze was actually competing with commitments to my kids in terms of cash supply.
I'm so thankful to have changed my ways before it got much worse.
Just another reminder of what used to be, and also another bit of motivation to keep going on the sobriety journey.
