A friend just called....
A friend just called....
"Hi.... I'm drinking. It's my last hurrah, and I want to go to AA".
Holy moly.
I suggested what you might want to do is switch to water right NOW and then we can go first thing in the morning.
"Nope, that's not how I work.... I'm gonna get it all DONE and out of the way... then suffer tomorrow and go to AA the next day".
So, I told her I'll be at her house first thing tomorrow to pick her up for the 7am.
I hope she wakes up....

In a funny way, the more drink, the worse the hangover, the more remorse.... It's actually going to make her more receptive to help.
I'm guessing you have thought about an ID / speaker meeting rather than a discussion.
If you can find a decent meeting earlier in the day... I'd get her along feeling the remorse as much as you can.
The alcoholic ego rebuilds so astonishingly fast.
I've had people ring me the night before or the morning after and by the time an 8pm meeting rolls around...... They are saying "it's ok, I think I over reacted" or something like that.

You and me both, Melinda. I am delighted that I finally got out of that trap. Too long I did the "tomorrow" song and dance.
FreeOwl, I hope your friend knows how lucky she is to have you in her life.

I dunno. I had my last hurrah. I knowingly bought 2 bottles of good wine, started to drink and then tearfully told my fiancé that I was in trouble and was going to stop. I knew my quit day was going to be 09/29 the following day, and have stuck to it. I hope your friend sticks to it as well !
She was up!!
She came to the meeting, it was gratitude Tuesday. I presented her a 24 hour chip.
She said it wasn't as bad as she had feared and I think it was a positive for her. There was a lot of good sharing and a lot of welcome support for her.
Fingers crossed.
I also got her a big book
