Today is my last day!
So I've decided to pick a quit date! I had a few drinks tonight. Why? Because I'm an alcoholic! It's NOT easy to admit....but I AM! I'm announcing publicly that I'm sick and tired of being sick & tired! Tomorrow will be day 1 of my journey back to sobriety after a year-long relapse! (After almost 6 years sober).
A couple things:
1. If you have some sobriety & are thinking about drinking....DONT! It only gets worse!
2. If you have some sobriety and think if you relapse it will be easy to get sober again....think again!!!
3. Alcohol is evil! It wants and is trying to kill me/us!
4. If you think sitting in a bar drinking is fun...it's NOT!
5. If you want to feel like you are in HELL...drink!
Soooo.....tomorrow is day 1! I am going back to AA in the morning and I will check back in when I have 30 days! Everything else I have tried has failed.
See you in 30 and God bless all of the alcoholics who are still suffering! I love you all even though we have never met...I pray for you daily! Special thanks to Dee & Anna for never turning your back on me! Xo

No harm in having a few tools in the tool box Serenidad, SR can be used in conjunction with AA.
The more support the better could make all the difference.
Either way make it happen!! You can do this!!

Hey Serenidad, I just wanted to wish you well as you move in the right direction. I also wanted to say thanks for the post, which when I read it, it helps reinforce my own sobriety.
I'm new here, and I look forward to seeing you in 30!!!

I'm glad you've committed.
I'm sorry you went for the last hurrah tho, to be honest.
I did too - but t wasn't because I was an alcoholic - I'm still an alcoholic but I don't drink.
It was because I wanted to see what I could 'get away with' one last time.
I hope you lay that opportunist part of you to rest now, and I'm hoping tomorrow will be your last day one
No need to stay away until you hit 30 either, why not post throughout?

Serinidad.... why not check in every day here ....thats what I have been doing and that is exactly what has helped me to get through one day at a time and to get to Day 31 today....a goal of one day at a time seemed so much more achievable than 30 days.... and now .... here I am I
I would love for you to come back tomorrow and post so we can start congratulating you on your sobriety. As soon as you put down the drink, you'll be able to start making good on all the hi-fives that are waiting for you. Good luck.

Good decision SD.
If it's any consolation, I have the dubious honour of the been there "drank again" t-shirt.
Having the t-shirt doesnt mean we have to wear it again.
Sincerely all the best with your sobriety journey

Wow. 6 years and we are still at risk. It's great that you are committed again. Stay strong.
Thank you for those 5 points. I believe I will need to refer back to them at some point.
Does anyone know if there is a way to flag a post as a favorite so we can easily find them again?

Serenidad,
Thanks for your candor in sharing about your situation. Good luck - there is nothing unique about anyone with long term sobriety other than the fact that they work it every day.
Looking forward to hearing about your progress, one day at a time.
