Day two

Starting day two, hardly any sleep for the last few days, still really shaky. I know, one day at a time. Actually got up and worked out for twenty minutes which really got me shaky but made me feel better that I'm on the road to getting healthy again. Now hoping I can maybe sleep some more. The sleep problems and extreme anxiety have to be one of the worst feelings in the world. I feel for all addicts and alcoholics trying to quit when you feel like you just want to stop the agony.

Sleep will come. The anxiety will lessen. You're right, those things drive people right back to the bottle. It did me for years. But it doesn't have to for you.
Just remember, if you don't take that first drink you'll never have to feel this way again.
Best to you and be well.

Every time you have to face a Day One that anxiety gets worse, too, right?

I hated that. I wanted to be over that. I don't want to feel that way again. I feel for you and can pray for you, but I'm not going to take that walk with you, my friend.

I hope this is the last time for you.

Well made it through the morning, guess I'll make it through the day one hour at a time. I notice if I read SR and post that I don't feel the anxiety so bad, guess that's the whole idea behind SR, you can have some help right in your own house. God knows I'm too shaky to drive anyplace. Thanks for the support, it helps.

Hang in there zeppodog we're all in this together. I agree with you about SR, coming and reading, and posting helps my anxiety during this as well. I have spent most of a day and evening reading here just to pass the time amongst people in the same place as me.

Take good care of yourself today, you are not alone. Rest, eat, scream, cry... whatever! There is only one way out, and that is through. But don't be afraid, there are people waiting for you on the other side, right beside you right now, and some who will begin this journey tomorrow.

Claim your spot and grab our hands, we ain't letting go!

Hey Zeppodog, I am on day three and new here. That voice in my head is screaming at me for a drink, but I'm not listening. Reading and posting is helping so much. Keep going, be determined, it's a good journey, we are all stronger than we think.

zeppo, I know what you mean about needing to even take it 1 hour at a time. Just keep yourself distracted as much as possible and get sleep where you can.

Only thing that brought comfort to me really was taking lots of hot showers and hot baths.. Now I am on Day 5 and finally feeling better for the first time, and hopefully even better tomorrow

Hope you are feeling better today.
Please keep away from dangerous situations...
and keep coming here when you need to we all support you!
You can try get extra help in AA or any other centre.
Always getting out how you feel helps

And sport is a good way to lower anxiety and sleep better!
But if you feel you need to go to a doctor for extra help please do so!
I got anxiety problems and I got medicated...

But just give time to time and you will start getting better!
Good luck in the recovery

I'm reading up on SMART addiction program, no meetings where I live but it sounds like it would help me and like SR it's 24 hour help.

How are you today, Zeppo?

I've spent a lot of time here in the last few months. It really works for me, I don't do well when I get over-stimulated, like at AA meetings, so this has been a really good place for me. I'm all over the place, reading everything. Every day I read something here that lifts me up or that is just what I needed to hear.

I hope you stick around and post more. Day 3?
