Day 1
Day 1
First day sober. Fed up of getting battered by alcohol and drugs. Destroying everything in my life and to I'm realising I haven't been being honest about how bad my drinking became and as a result not taking not drinking seriously. Its time to start taking it seriously before its too late. I'm 36 years old and my illness tells me its too late for you. You'll never achieve anything now. Bonkers!!
It is never too late if you are living and breathing. I assume you aren't writing us from the grave, so start living. You can do this. You are young and have your entire life ahead of you.
I realize this might sound strange, but at times I am thankful for my drunk days. I know what good is, because I have been through hell and back. Us alcoholics have a perspective others don't. We understand what it is like to not live fully. Perhaps that equips us to lead even more fulsome lives when we get healthy.
Good luck to you. We all have it in our power to get sober. ALL of us. It is a matter of doing the work, and it is worth it.

Being sober IS the achievement of your life if you're an alcoholic. Everything else is just gravy. One day you'll look around and say, hey... I'm actually okay with the way things are today Welcome Pups!
