At a loose end...

Day 3 again and trying to distract myself from drinking! Tried to do one or two things round the house but I'm struggling to concentrate...

Commit to not drinking today NO MATTER WHAT. just for today. takes all the oomph out of the thoughts and cravings. cuz it just ain't gonna happen. PERIOD.

don't just distract yourself, immerse yourself in some project or task that's been waiting to be done, or that will give you a sense of accomplishment.

Hi James - hang in there - just keep distracting yourself until the urge goes away (it will go away!) What time is it where you are? Do you have anyone you can call to go get a coffee maybe?

Don't do it james, think how crap you'll feel in the morning - not just because you've drunk but because you will be so annoyed with yourself. I keep slipping and it's extremely frustrating. Make sure there is no booze in the house and distract yourself with dvds or game and some nice non alcoholic treats like chocolate! You can do this!!!

Going to attempt making dinner. That should take me into early evening and kill a few hours by the time we've done and it's all cleared away.

I think I better lay off the coffee lol. I've already had a few today and it's making me jittery.

Play the tape forward. Think of how you'll feel AFTER the drink.

Think about the day or two or THREE after.

I use SR alot during the early days. It's only day 6 for me this time. But it's a great tool and i'm glad it's here.

This might sound counterproductive, but, dont over do it, but keep busy. Make sense? Do the little things that dont take much emotional concentration but might take some physical effort...
