final kick of the can (hopefully)
Hi everyone, I found this site last night while looking for alternative methods and/or support systems to assist me in quitting drinking (again).
After 25 years of regular and heavy drinking I've had many failed attempts at quitting even though alcohol has cost me jobs, my marriage, driving license, self respect, etc. It has been a rough ride and I'm pretty much at the bottom now, so I'm giving it everything I can to kick this addiction for good.
I'm currently using a combination of AA meetings and just completed Allen Carr's excellent book "The Easy Way to Control Alcohol". I guess I'm seeking for the solution in different areas, and willing to take whatever works for me so long as it contributes to my permanent sobriety.
I hope to get the opportunity to speak to as many members here as possible.
P.S. I had my final drink last night and had the best sleep in months, knowing I'd wake up feeling more alive today than in a long time. It is a beautiful fall day here, the sun is shining and the leaves are lovely colors so I think I'll go outside and enjoy it!
