new and nervous
Hi,
I'm new here, and am going to my second Al-Anon meeting ever tonight. At the first one, a few days ago, I cried almost the entire time, and was the only one in the room who did. There were only 6 of us, 3 of whom were also new. It was kind of awful and I'm really hoping I don't have a repeat performance tonight. :-/ I want to be able to get through it without uncontrollable sobs the whole time. I was really nervous going to that first one, and I'm nervous for this one too. Sigh. But I know I should give it at least 6 tries...

It's so good to have you with us alanonnewbie.
I'm glad you're going to meetings - and being here will be a great help too. It's understandable that you were emotional - so many feelings are bottled up as we try to cope with our loved ones addiction. Hopefully you will feel calmer in future meetings.

Welcome! Don't be nervous. You have probably been holding back a lot of emotions and it's normal that you released them in a meeting with others who can relate to what you are going through. That's totally ok. Maybe the others weren't crying because they've already cried. No one will judge you for being brave. Hugs.

Welcome to the forum!
Crying is a great cathartic release! Like others before me have posted, you probably have a lot of emotions to sort out right now, and that's okay. That's what these support groups are there for.

Hi alanonnewbie, welcome to our forum.
Don't worry, you got there, that's the main thing. Lots of help and support here for you, also, have a read around, get familiar with the forum and post whenever you like, 24/7. x

You'll find lots of support here. And a good thing is that SR is always open, there's always someone here.
