What a sad way to spend a year!
So thurs is my bday. I can't help but think about where I was this time last year. Sober! Almost 6 years sober!
I stopped going to AA after year 3 & relapsed right after my bday last year. :-(
Still can't string more than a few days together now. The guilt, shame, self-hatred, anxiety & depression are horrible!
I feel like I'm never gonna climb out of this black hole!
Could use some HOPE...please!!!

That is a really horrible, difficult and sad way to spend a year. But you recovered before and can do it again I hope that for your birthday this year you will be able to achieve recovery again. It's horrible right now, so horrible and dark but it doesn't have to be this way. you can do it! tomorrow's a new day, Good luck
Happy Birthday for tomorrow serenidad
We can all get lost in regrets if we allow ourselves to be...we can;t change a thing about yesterday tho

Serenidad, You haven't give up on wanting a sober life - that's what counts.
I had 3 yrs. once & decided I could have a glass of wine. Didn't feel like telling the new person I was dating that I didn't drink. That seemingly innocent glass of wine led to many more that night - and off I went - 7 years of hell and destruction. I made it back though, thanks to SR. You will too.

When we relapse after long term sobriety, it sucks. Maybe it hits us with a little extra dose of guilt, shame, anxiety and depression - but the truth is you have a history of sobriety as far as I'm concerned - Let history repeat itself!
You CAN do this!
