taming the toungue - sobriety is interesting!
So, now that In not drinking - Ive been realizing just how much I used to "say" when trashed. aarg....
I was always saying "what was on my mind", good or bad.
So, tonight, I was offended by an insulting person after asking them a simple question....a yes or no question.
I FELT the anger come up (when trashed- I would have spouted crap back -or just put up with it- not "feeling it" ).
I simply just repeated the simple question, calmly (ignoring their wise a$$ degrading comment) ...got the answer and left the room peacefully- without showing anger etc.
Interesting....I think Im much stronger, have boundaries and really am not going to respond to the aggression or accept any longer...just ignore it.
I think thats powerful!!!!
Thanks to sobriety, Im stronger !!

I think it's interesting how when I get addled about something at my husband that he actually listens to me now. Previously it was a foolish, drunken rant. Now I have MERIT! It's a great feeling. I was never a nag but I sure had a huge mouth when I was drinking.

I hear ya. The other day I'm at an ATM and I had to make a few transactions and after about 2 minutes I hear the lady outside say loudly to herself "you got to be kidding me, hurry the (expletive) up"
about a minute later when was done, I walked out opened the door for her smiled and told her to have a great evening.
only the sober me does this. the me not in recovery would have went a completely different route to say the least.
So I know the feeling of "taming the tongue" in sobriety also. Kudos to you livingnow!
