Congratulations on 5 days sober. Missing the party seems like it might be a good choice.

And, there are lots of non-drinkers in the world. I think it just takes a different perspective to find them. I started doing volunteer work in early recovery and found lots of great non-drinking people.

I agree with others - 5 days is a bit early to risk it at this party. I'm sure your family would understand if you were feeling a "bit off" and could not make it tonight.

I went and left early when they started talking **** lol

I am going to meet the motorbike club I belong to today that I joined a year ago but have always been to hungover to actually go for a sunday morning ride with

I still have strength from the AA meeting I went to and plan on going to at least 3 next week.

I feel like I am going to take a lot of crap from my family for not drinking. All of my family does, my co-workers included because they are mostly family. At this point I am a little embarrassed to admit that my drinking is out of control. Good job at making an appearance yet leaving early. I don't know if I'd have the will power to do that at this point.
