Holistic Healing
Hello! My name is Destiny. This is my introduction.
I was going to write a piece on myself. Except I cannot focus on it right now.
Question?
Can someone direct me to any threads on holistic healing? And if their are any success stories with this?
Thank you!

Hello and welcome MessyDes,
You can start by looking through the secular connections part of the forums.
There might be suggestions there. What specifically are you asking about as far as holistic healing? Guidance on recovery from addictions? Pain or other?
There is also a pain management forum that may be of use.

I have met addicts who have used massage, yoga, acupuncture, etc. as part of their recovery program to good effect, as have I.
The important part of the above sentence is as PART of my program.
Getting clean and sober impacts you psychologically, emotionally, socially, and physically. You'll need to come up with a plan for yourself which works to heal all these aspects of self.
I go to AA meetings, journal, spend a lot of time on this website, get holistic physical therapies, etc. Each person on this site develops their own combination of support and healing. Some people don't want to work with a 12-step group program, some know they'll do best with inpatient treatment, some go to therapy, etc.
I am a big believer in holistic body therapy, because I think there is both physical/detox healing in it, and I believe that things like massage also release some emotional issues that you might not access solely with talking. That being said, knowing that I can go from a massage appointment to an AA meeting later that night, so I can process it if something difficult comes up for me is very important to me.
I have told some of the bodywork practitioners that I work with that I am in recovery. In particular, acupuncture has specific protocols for addiction. I would be very wary of any bodyworker who implied that this was all you needed to quit your addiction.
Create a whole collage of different approaches and use them all. Add things, and subtract things. You'll create a life full of different kinds of support for your recovery!
