intermittent chicken

So I was reading this on Butterfly's post when I got home from work last night. I read it again in the wee hours of the morning. My question is, is this done intentionally. Is this a part of the disease or a symptom, or is it really an intentional thing? Just trying to wrap my head around it while working on my own recovery!

meggem.....go the the top blue bar (at top of friends and family page). Type in "intermittent chicken". There, you will find any number of threads that deal with this concept.

Go into her thread called I'm walking away. Someone posted it not with the link but the actual story or theory.

Wendy.....I think it is almost always "unconscious". People just learn what works when they want to get their way. It is human behavior (and, animal behavior--LOL).
Even toddlers learn what works for them and what doesn't. It doesn't just belong to alcoholics!..LOL.

Alsoholics become very good at learning how to get their way in relationships. Especially with co-dependents! They can play a co-dependent like a harp.......

^^^ I agree with dandylion, I think it starts as more of a natural human behavior than a purposely malicious act.

I was thinking on that lines. I know several people that are not addicts that have the same behaviors. In the end it is the person we are that allows this to happen in the first place.

go straight up to the blue bar (at top of this page). Click on the "search" button. Then type in "intermittent chicken". Many different threads on this same subject should come up.
