I leave, and my daughter doesn't care...

I left today to go grocery shopping, and kissed my daughter before going out the door, and she barely spared me a glance....And that is GREAT! Why? Because when I was drinking I would leave every Sat. And Sun. To go to the grocery store, but would be gone 3-4 hours because of course, I made my list sitting at the bar first.

She used to cry and carry on when I would leave to go because she knew I would be gone a while:-(. Now after 17 months sobriety, my 7 year old is comfortable knowing that mom won't be gone all day, and there is no more crying and hysterics as I walk out the door.

Although I still feel guilty at times for any hurt I may have caused her before due to my overly long shopping trips, I am focussing on my daughters renewed trust in her mommy, and I LOVE that she doesn't care if I have to go to the store!

Love my daughter more than anything, and I love my sober life!

Just had to share:-)

Nice! Kids don't understand addiction, good for you for showing her that you are strong enough to overcome it.
