This is my first post.
I'm 6 month's sober, and I have found this forum very helpfull these last couple of weeks.
I'm 27 years old, and have been drinking wayyy too much almost since I started, when I was 13. The last 5 years has been the worst though, and I know for certain that I am an addict/alcoholic. I have realised that I have been selfmedicating because of social anxiety that has been there even before I started drinking and doing drugs. I am now in the process of finding ways to cope with it without killing myself in the process.
I'm very inspired from reading other people's threads here, so I wanna thank everyone for that.

How awesome that you've strung together six months!!!!!!!!!!! For me, that was where life really kind of began.
So what do you do with yourself these days? What kind of fun do you have?
Everyone has social anxiety to some extent - what bothers you the most? Maybe I can come up with some ideas to help you.

These days I spend alot of time doing exercises and trying to eat as healthy as possible. I think it's the only way to heal the damage that has been done. I also watch alot of movies, and listen to audiobooks, great way of relaxing.
For me the social anxiety is most felt in social situations where focus is on me and when I'm among alot of people, like in crowded places. I just feel very vulnerable sometimes. It's kinda new for me to feel like this because I did use alcohol and drugs to get through situations like that.
But... There's only one way ahead I guess. I do kinda believe in cognitive psychology, so I think I will try to ease myself into these situations more and more. hopefully I will be less anxious about it in the long run.
