Day 10 of no smoking or drinking. I found myself struggling through yesterday and already today. I will make it through today, it's just very uncomfortable. I thinks it's time to find a new focus.
Is that your dog in the picture? I have a Frenchie too
Try to change it up today to make it over the hump. Distract yourself however you can. Do something silly - go to a park and swing on some swings. Or walk somewhere pretty and take some pictures. You are hard core to stop both at the same time. But in a few weeks, there'll be no turning back

For sure, both at once! Good for you and stay with it! When I quit smoking I had isolated myself camping on an island up north. Apparently I was grumpy :-)
Then I just didn't buy smokes or ever have them readily available. And yes keep busy.
Enjoy the day today!

Beth, not a frenchie but a boxer. They look similar upside down, lol. Thanks guys I will try to do something different today. A nap is in order. If I have to battle these demons all day again, I'm going to need more sleep.
Have you checked out the Class of September thread Countrygirl?
There's a lot of support and understanding in a group of people more or less at the same point you are?

Hi country girl...the weekender thread has been 'home' every weekend since my first sober weekend. It is a great place to hang out and learn about new things and people

Oh my gosh! I just saw that you hopped on the bus! Welcome.

(and I thought your dog was a Boston Terrier! Upside-down they all look the same? Lol)
Were I to attempt quitting smoking again, I would have to do what razor15 did, and isolate myself from society for a time so I don't kill anybody or ruin anything. That takes guts, quitting both at the same time!!
See you on the weekender thread, countrygirl

I was sober ten years and I did some dabbling over the past few months. I am thankful it didn't blossom into much. I have realized that alcohol will depress me and consume my life - no matter how little I drink.
So now I have a few weeks again. Happily, because I didn't slip too far, I was able to transition fairly quickly back into my sober life. I just know I need to keep my guard up... forever.
How are you doing???
Beth

I just wanted to say props to those who quit smoking at the same time! I'm not even a "heavy" smoker (except when I was drinking, than all bets were off) but to quit at the same time just seemed too much. So my hats off to you for staying the course on that!
