Trending on Twitter is a conversation about Domestic Violence spurred by the Ray Rice elevator footage. For those on Twitter, it's worth reading through the shares, they will look familiar because we read the same things here daily.

For the non-tweeters here are the 10 Most Powerful Tweets from the conversation.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

A lot of stuff happening in the DV arena (pardon the pun!).

But attitudes change. I used to love football...played in high school.

But then I was expected to continue shelling out my dollars to monsters
that torture dogs to death (Vick)----or sucker punch women in elevators.

F*&K that! My dollars go elsewhere now, and they're not EVER coming back.

Will Goodell go? Stay?

Who cares. I'm done, my money is done------good luck, NFL......I represent
the mainstream....and I say.........

"Goodbye, chump!"

Over the years I have volunteered with women's shelters and have seen what abuse looks like up close and personal and how it affects the children, who often have been abused themselves.

It's NOT okay to abuse women and children...or elderly or men. It's not okay to use the Bible as justification..."Spare the rod and spoil the child" does NOT mean beat the crap our of them until they bleed.

Vale, your post touched my heart because I have always had a liking for football, not a big fan of any one team but it's a sport I have enjoyed watching over the years. No more. Enough. Not ALL football players are abusers, I'm sure most a wonderful loving family men. But when the leagues and the owners do not 100% stand firm against any kind of abuse then they support it or choose to turn a blind eye on the women and children who are abused.

They have had the opportunity lately, with videos and media attention, to take a stand and they failed.

God bless the child.

They did fail, miserably----The buck stops at the top.

If you don't have the stones to sit in the seat....then get out of it.

Goodell, you had your chance to make a command decision.
But on your manhood, you took a pass. You didn't even have
the decency to fall on your sword (resign).

Embarrassing.

It's the old adage...If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

There was an opportunity to bring some good of all this through media attention making it clear that abuse is never okay...Football as a sport that could speak loudly has dropped the ball. Shame on them.

Well, it's worth remembering that Goodell serves as commissioner so long as he's got the support of the owners. And you can't help but notice that we haven't heard a peep out of most of them, Bob Kraft aside.

My point is the owners are complicit, too.
