My first post
Hi everyone,
I just registered on this site and didn't want to be a lurker so I thought I'd say 'Hello' straight away. Today's my first day of sobriety - something which I find, frankly, surreal yet liberating. It feels, surprisingly just like splitting up with a long term partner. How appropriate.
I'm from rural England and finding a supportive community isn't as easy as it might be in a city, but I appreciate I may need one, which is why I'm here.
I'll check in with you regularly.
Much love,
O

Welcome Obvious and congrats on Day1. You'll find lots of support here 24/7. I know what you mean about the feeling of "breaking up" with alcohol. In a sense we really are, but it's for the best because alcohol is the stereotypical "bad" partner. It lies, it cheats, and does anything it possibly can to keep harming us.
Welcome Obvius!! Glad your here!
As a newcomer myself, It took me a while to find this thread;

It is a daily 24 commitment thread to not drinking --- just today!
Helps keep me on track engaging in this fashion with others.
Maybe useful for you.
Welcome - SR is a great place!
