Positive Changes Are Happening

Just wanted to share with you some of the positive changes that have been happening since I quit alcohol 62 days ago. I apologize I didn't post my own thread when I first joined but I have posted on other threads. Everyone is so positive and encouraging and right now SR and my family is all I have to keep me on track.

Quitting hasn't been all Unicorns and rainbows. Change has been gradual. Like so many who quit have commented mornings are great. I get up a lot earlier than I used to and I am not sick and throwing up in my toilet every morning. I am more productive at work and around the house. I no longer have to promise myself every morning that today is the day I quit because I did for good on July 16.

What really made it all worthwhile is this weekend my wife said she and the kids are proud of me and when I was talking to my youngest son in our kitchen he said he likes the cool dad.

If your serious about removing alcohol from your life don't expect that everything will change overnight. Positive change will happen, you just need to be patient.

Awesome. I was actually in the bathroom a few nights ago- FLOSSING! And I had the water running, and when I got out, my wife asked "were you throwing up?" It was always my "trick" to leave the water running to that no one could hear me yack. Apparently that didnt work as well as I thought. But no I wasnt throwing up, I was flossing heh.

Great job Man!!!

Guy told me everyday we don't drink we make living amends to ourselves and loved ones.
That concept keeps me going daily.....

Keep it up!

peace

Jryan - its amazing how many "tricks" we had to hide the alcohol or the effects of alcohol when the only thing we were "tricking" was ourselves.

Nooooooooooo kidding! The alcohol was tricking us into thinking we were smarter than a sober person...

I get a card now from my adult daughters every year on my sober-versary. They talk about how I have shown them the power we each of us have to set goals and meet them, to recreate ourselves, and that I have demonstrated the power of the human spirit to drive change. I have shown them that the only limitations they have are the ones they set for themselves.

I know, a little over the top, but I like it. It sure beats the sadness and disappointment in their eyes I would see while I was drinking.

Great post Ghostdad! You may even need to change your username at some point to Awesomedad or something.
