Small Victory

I have been sober from booze for 7 days.

In the past I have had bouts with other "things" (Think the movie Scarface) and since I have not been drinking this "old friend" has become available to me again.

I did what I thought I would not do. I said NO and informed the person not to bring it near me.

I have not messed with this stuff since the birth of my children, but when your not drinking you think "what the heck as long as I am not drinking what's the big deal." The two (drinking and that other stuff) used to go hand in hand with me.

But I stayed true to that plan and gained a small victory over something that years ago dominated my life.

Now if I can just get 7 years of drinking sobriety under my belt. Oh well, great day today and no urge to drink. Day 8 here I come!

Thanks for listening SR and yes I believe that small victories help win the war.

Way to go Charlie! Don't waver on this. Replacing one with another is just as bad or worse. Stay strong. You can do it.

Awesome Charlie! Way to stand up for yourself and your sobriety, I know that though it is necessary it isn't always easy. Great job on 7 days too, that is such progress. Keep it up, I'll be thinking of you!

I still have a lot of friends that drink heavily, I have no problem with that. They know I don't, and we get along fine. They actually sometimes tell me one on one they wish they could slow down, or stop altogether.

But if that stuff shows up, I'm outta there instantly. . Nothing but Bad Karma.

Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement.

Much appreciated. I could not be as strong without SR.

Thank you all.

pretty good. Heading into the weekend. I have a large function to go to but have the plan in place to keep on the straight and narrow.
