I did the unthinkable.

After my 24 hour stomach flu over the weekend (lovely, right?) I was feeling better today and was able to have the energy to move around and do a few things around the house.

Well, low and behold I was gathering trash together and I found an entire bottle of Merlot in my bedroom closet. Obviously through my drinking binge days I would hide my alcohol in case anyone came over the next morning and all the bottles would be out and about. I hide my alcohol even when I'm home alone. I think I hide it from myself most of the time.

I did the unthinkable. I opened the wine bottle and flushed it down the toilet. The entire bottle too. Yeah, the aroma alone was a trigger but I did it and felt good about it. I'm proud of myself.

I just wanted to share.

Good job zanabanana! When you wake up in the morning, all alert with a clear head, you will be really happy you didn't drink it

This is great news! It's very hard to pour out alcohol but when you do it it feels great! Thank you for the inspirational post.

Amazing zana!! =D
Hidden bottles in the closet... ugh I do the same thing when I am on a binge. Funny just two days ago my husband was digging around in his side of the closet and found a full bottle of wine. He took it away to work with him and gave it to a client. I was happy I didn't have to deal with it and it just went away, ha!
I was thinking about that later on and I realized... that bottle of wine in the closet is no more a temptation then all the alcohol I can find withing a one mile radius of where I live. Alcohol is EVERYWHERE and I am okay with choosing NOT to procure a bottle and drink it. Such freedom!
Again congrats on your resolve not to drink!!

Zana,
that's so awesome I cleaned my house out. Believe it or not, for years and years I never knew if there was alcohol in the house or how much since my husband drank some and I was sober. It didn't bother me for ages. So funny that went I went back, I could tell you down to the ounce where all the alcohol was.
Big hugs and congrats!
Grat
