Over a week sober

Hey guys

I haven't been online for a while, I decided to plug out of the online world while I got my head together in my time off.

But the good news is, I'm still sober =)

Not only that but my doctors told me I likely just have uncomplicated fatty liver, if I keep going this way, I'll be completely fine.

I've been tempted, I'm not going to lie. But no buzz can beat waking up happy and unashamed.

It's been a tough week to be honest. I had issues at work and my brother was hospitalised after attempting suicide. The latter sent me in a downhill spiral and I nearly cracked. I nearly cracked because I was angry he couldn't see all life had to offer him around the corner obstructing his view. Then I realised that's what drinking is for me, the thing blocking my real view of the world.

Me and my brother have spent a lot more time together since, I told him about my alcoholism and since then we've spent pretty much every day together, he's even talking about getting into rugby again, it was something he loved growing up.

There's so much to say I could go on for a whole book, but I guess the size of it all is sometimes life sucks and sometimes life is great, the important thing is I'm alive to experience it all, not drowning the days in beer.

Thanks for an uplifting and honest post, hope you and your brother can get well together, you didn't mention in your post but clearly your brother has gremlins to do such a serious act...
Fingers crossed for you both

Thomas, those are great words! Each day is a joy sober - even a bad day.
Prayers for healing for your brother!
