Jason Vale: Kick the drink........Easily
I would note, some of the controversy of Vale and Carr surrounds their depiction of anyone who touches alcohol will eventually become addicted. Of course this is encouraging to us problem folks to vilify alcohol, but it is not necessarily grounded in fact (there are people who can handle it just not us) . Between these two books and 'beyond the influence' I received a lot of sober encouragement.

As much as I wish people would read this book, my precaution above is ringing true as I type this. Getting killed in another thread in SR for parroting some of the ideas that Vale espouses, which are probably blasphemous/harmful/in contradiction to other's recovery programs.
Unfortunately, this book will never get widespread publication or consideration, the ideas in it are just too radical for traditional recovery circles.

I just read this book cover to cover and must say I'm actually excited about quitting drinking. I'm on sober day 2 and was a daily heavy drinker for the past 10 years. The book teaches you that if you can finally see alcohol for what it truly is (an evil drug) and convince yourself that it has nothing to offer you but pain and misery, that you can actually enjoy kicking its a$$ out of your life. I'm going to try to view it as a celebration now that I'm on the road to getting my sanity back and will definitely love kissing the dreadful hangovers bu bye
