Advice needed

I'm on my 37th day of sobriety. Yesterday the A and L of HALT took over. It seems like they both fed off each other which made for a very long day. I didn't drink. Today I feel absolutely drained. Would this be considered normal for my stage of sobriety?

Yes, I think it probably is normal; without alcohol to dull the senses, sometimes the emotions seem too much. It does get easier, keep up the good work!

Hi and congratulations for not drinking over it.
We are all at different places and what affects one today may not affect that person next week etc.
The work in getting sober AND STAYING sober is constant and the sooner I started the work on MY self the sooner recovery became easier. Paying attention to our moods and not acting on the negative ones are a huge thing in sobriety. Again congratulations.

BE WELL

I find myself physically exhausted due to my emotional overload. A nap or some quiet time is always refreshing for me. 37 days of sobriety is awesome! You will have up days and down days but they are good days when not drinking

Yes, it is.

The emotions we feel in early recovery are often exhausting, simply because we haven't learned how to deal with them and then let them go.

I've been practicing 100% sobriety for over two years and I am drained right now! lol!

Seriously, virtuous living is difficult. Each day you're going to feel like you woke up on the side of a steep mountain. Faced with that kind of reality, you really only have two choices. Climb, or rest. And sometimes the body simply says "I'm tired. Can we lay down for a while?"

When it does, listen to it.
I do.

Absolutely normal and it gets better the more you work on self and stay sober. Hang in there.

Proud of you for resisting!

I say yes, it's normal & to be expected. We've beaten ourselves up badly - we need time to heal. Each day gets a little better - eventually those thoughts will fade away. 37 days - something to be proud of!
