The "What I'm going to do instead of drinking this weekend" Thread:

Yep, you heard it right!! THIS is the thread that gives us inspiration, lets us share, lets us plan ahead, support one another and generally all-around solidify our resolve to NOT waste our joyfully blessed, precious moments of LIFE on pouring poison down our throats and doing crap we will only regret.

What I'm going to do this weekend instead of wasting my life drinking is;

Go for a trail run
Finish re-doing the floor in my daughter's room
Spend some outdoor time with my lady and her son
Help a friend chop and haul wood for his winter's heat
Go for another trail run
Go to yoga
Make some fantabulous organic fruit and vegetable juices

CELEBRATE LIFE'S AWESOMENESS IN SOBRIETY!!!

Happy Weekend Everybody.

I'm going to a family cookout/housewarming tomorrow where there will be drinking and my son's little cousins........and the next day the other side of the family....cookout with drinking and my son's little cousins.....yippee

Actually both should be fun......we'll see......

(I suppose this wasn't in the spirit of the thread.....)

Yep that is why I am avoiding those situations. If I invest time with family it will help

Particularly in my early recovery

Also studying tonight to try to further myself, this is part of reinvesting my energies

I am going to catch a ton of football college football is back and I missed it tremendously. Sunday I am going to sit down with a bunch of paperwork I've put off for months, and if there is extra time I have a few books I've been meaning to read.

Oh and a resume, yes my dear old hated friend the resume. You need one of these finagled contraptions to get a new job they tell me. For as much as I can blather about nothing, my mind clears and I go blank when it comes to resumes.

Finish weeding and mulching the front yard. Get a start on the back. Get a haircut. Go to the gym. Go for a mountain bike ride and/or a city bike ride. Go for a motorbike ride. Have a go at sorting through clothes and donating the old stuff. Yeah that should keep me busy.

I forgot to add "train in martial arts" - which I have started doing with my daughters and highly recommend as a healthy, sober activity that is supportive of sobriety in many ways!

Great thread!! Starting day six for me. I have a friend coming into town who is a heavy drinker, but I told her what's going on and she's doing a NA weekend for support.

Going for a four-mile run this morning, and then to the beach today. Dinner with two other friends (one who can't drink because of her meds, the other is a one drink maybe two max lady). Glad I have supportive friends

Not sure about tomorrow - maybe explore the city, have a dinner at one of the new amazing restaurants in town. It's affordable without drinking - ususally our bar tab is way more than the food.

Lots of water, sunshine, laughs, relaxation.

awesome! I LOVE thrift stores, could get lost for hours "thrifting"...hope you find some treasures for your new home Dee

just waiting for the BF to get up (it is only 7:30am here!) - head to a cottage for the day where my mom is...tan, read, walk on the beach...head home after dinner...
Sunday and Monday are still unplanned.
May drive around and check out couches, in dire need of a new couch! and I will be working out at some point. I took today off b/c a wee sore from swinging my kettlebell around yesterday...(side note: you want a good full body tone up quick? buy one of these bad boys!)

whatever I do - I will be sober and loving every second of it. I haven't been able to have a full 3 day weekend since Easter b/c my sorry butt was in jail all summer...so this is friggin awesome!

Long walks/runs with my dog
Yard work - mulching, weeding, planting
Some frugal "on a budget" shopping
Get a haircut
Burn fall candles
Read
Enjoy time with my daughters..maybe try to catch the sunset at the beach

Simply just enjoy 3 days of no work stress and no rushing around, sober sleep and clear mornings reading up on SR and getting focused for the day.

Great thread, thank you

Sitting on the front porch drinking good coffee with the dogs
watching and listening to a soft rain
Prayer and meditation
An AA meeting and catching up with some AA buddies
Going out to lunch with my wonderful wife
Maybe a movie
A visit to Lake Michigan might take the dogs if I'm feeling charitable there is a dog beach they love
Going out to my sober friends orchard for fresh fruits and veggies. She loves it when I come out and I love the produce
Repairing the dog pee spots in the lawn
Going to church
NY strips on the BBQ with fresh sweet corn

Enjoying this wonderful sober life that God has given me
