Respect your elders my a....

So my parents (yes both are addicts) are currently relapsing after being sober from xanax and pain pills for about 8 months. We had a big blow up fight yesterday and they told me and my husband we should "respect our elders" and if we have problems with them never voice them. They want us to say No Maam and Yes sir and not ask questions. Im 30, married, and have 3 kids... I'm sorry "Respecting my elders" went out the door when you decided to drive my kids around high, falling asleep the wheel and get locked up in the county where my husband works as a cop...

Sorry just my rant of the day!

I would like this a thousand times if I could. Respect is earned, not a right.

I'm with Grits here. What a pair of buffoons. Sounds like you actually respect them enough to be honest with them and refuse to enable them with denial, which is more than they respect themselves.

I personally feel that respect should be given to elders until it is lost. I would say the elders of virtually everyone on this board has done things to justifiably lose the 'respect' that would once have been owed.
