Craving coffee
A friend of mine who has 3 1/2 years quit alcohol, cigarettes, sugar and coffee all on the same day. He said he wanted to get that first 90 days for all of them at once. And he did it. He totally changed his life. I'm not sure I could ever give up coffee, but it doesn't bother me. I don't eat sugar at all because it does bother me. You just have to listen to your body and do what is right for you.
I gave up CAFFIENATED coffee at the same time as my first quit because my Dr. ordered it. I don't know if it made it harder but might have... So I agree with what everyone else said.
I still drink decaf almost every day.

I allow myself coffee. it can be abused also. alcohol folks seem to be particularly fond of it.-ever been to a meeting? Jeesh... LOL!
I have figured out my limits, and unlike other substances, am able to moderate (most of the time). I like coffee after lunch so I don't slump into nap mode. therefore I try to stick to two cups in the am. three rarely. last call is 4 or 5pm. any consumption after is paid for with leg restlessness in bed.
current research points to a lot of benefits to coffee (in moderation). crap! there's that word again!
one question for you-how's your sugar intake? check that out too when trouble-shooting.

I drink 3-4 cups per day, no sugar. Sometimes I'm tempted to drink more. I drank 5-8 cups when I first quit drinking. That wasn't good for my mood swings and anxiety. So I tapered down and glad I did.
Don't push yourself too hard, but if you're ready to quit coffee, go for it. If my 3-4 cups ever feels like too much, I'll probably go down to 1-2, or quit.

I wouldn't stress about it. Coffee isn't gonna kill you. I think a lot of us (myself included) when quitting go "hey, if I can do this I can do anything. I'm going to quit everything bad about me, get a six pack and live like a super sexy saint forever". But all that extra stuff, those little things that aren't great for us but get us through the day, are pretty important in keeping morale up while staying sober.
That's what I've found, anyhow.

If you find coffee to be a vice try a half decaf version. Folgers makes one already premixed. Since coming off of alcohol tends to leave you with anxiety I have found that the half decaf is a great way for me to get a little extra pep in the mornings without the coffee jitters.
Between coffee and alcohol, I would say screw alcohol and stick with the coffee as long as I needed.

coffee actually causes some pains in my chest
can be hard on the nerves system
I understand this addiction
Dr Dean Adel a doctor on the radio years ago would always say
my drug of choice is coffee
it's hard for me to cut down on my coffee
kind of like booze
I have stopped drinking it for a few days at a time
only to just have a cup or two occasionally
and then back to my several cups a day
and then as you say
causing me to not feel good
