TOPIC: Quick and Easy Food and Recipes!

In order to break the monotony of constantly talking about alcohol and the freedom from it (Yes I am trying to remain sober.) I thought it might be good to lighten things up a bit with food. It seems like when one quits drinking food really comes into play.

Plus when I am cooking new things its takes my mind away from drinking.

"Cilantro Lime Shrimp" (its quick and easy / and great for summer)

15 or so raw shrimp (I prefer Tiger or Argentina Reds because they are big)

1. Thaw (if need be), devein and remove shells
2. Throw shrimp in a large zip lock bag
3. Pour in 1 teaspoon of olive oil
4. Chop up about a 1/2 cup of fresh cilantro (throw it in the bag full of shrimp)
5. Dice up 2 garlic cloves (add to the bag of shrimp)
6. Cut 4 limes in half and squeeze the juice in the bag (or use lime juice)
7. Mix all the ingredients in the bag.
8. (Most important step) place in the fridge and let marinate at least 6 hours.
9. thread shrimp on the skewer and grill for 1.5 minutes on each side (or pan sear if you do not have a grill)
10. Put on a plate and sprinkle a little more fresh cilantro on top of them.
11. Enjoy.

Note: The lime juice turns the shrimp a brilliant white while marinating.

Alter the recipe as needed. It cannot be messed up.

"Strawberry Smoothie" (Blender needed)

1. Eight ice cubes
2. Six strawberries (cut in half)
3. Six Blueberries
4. Six raspberries
5. One cup of milk (I use unsweetened coconut / almond milk)
6. 2 tablespoons of cool whip (thickens the drink)
7. Add all ingredients to the blender. Purify!

Add sugar if you like as it may be a little bland for some. I am a low carb guy so its plenty sweet for me.

Enjoy!

There is a food, fitness nutrition section and general cafe section of the forum. Maybe you want to have your thread moved there and look around?

Hey Charlie,

Great idea. Are those servings for 2 or 1 persons? I am planning low carb too. I hope this thread stays!
