New here
Hi- new here to the board. I went to rehab 7 years ago for opiate abuse and I'm rep-lapsed hard recently. I'm lucky I didn't over dose. I took the first step tonight and told my husband and plan calling my insurance to get started with a drug abuse counselor tomorrow. I feel like such a total failure. Could really use some support.

We haven't truly failed until we've stopped trying. You are obviously taking steps to make changes. I for one am proud of you. It takes a great deal to finally admit to our problems with substances. But until we do that we can't do much else
things will get better

It's just so hard. I feel like I will never live a normal life. Why do I feel like I can't function without pills. I have such a beautiful life and I will lose it all for stupid pills. How could I do this to my family again? The next few days if withdrawals are going to be so hard.

I don't believe addiction is something anyone ever plans on, It's not like you planned to do this to your family. I know the hardest part can be moving past the self-loathing.
Stay strong and know you are not alone by any means. Just because we have made mistakes does not mean we are defined by them

hi and welcome Stella
I used to wonder if I would ever have a normal life too...alcohol was my poison and I went back to it a lot...
Gradually tho I built up more and more support, and found more and more 'tools' for my recovery...
SR was great for both things. I'm really glad you found us
