Hi . . . i thought I'd introduce myself. Basically, I've spent more time on earth drinking than not. So, it's pretty clear I need to stop.
I have managed to develop esophagitis, GERD, gastritis, fatty liver, and IBS. I left work early yesterday and got hammered. I fell asleep by dinner time, woke up and repeated the process. I was still drunk this morning.
Not good . . . but I have hope. I've managed to moderate drinking at times in the past, and I know I can quit for weeks at a time without side effects/withdrawal problems. I have reached a point though where the physical and emotional damage is too great for me to discuss "moderation". I really need to quit.
Anyway, thanks for letting me share, and I appreciate the forum . . . I'm definitely going to be spending quite a bit of time here the next few weeks. I will need the support and community.

Good for you to admit you have a problem. I'm sorry it had to be your health that proved the point.
The body can recover. I nearly destroyed mine drinking.
I also had many days when I got drunk, slept it off, and got drunk again. Used to sleep with a bottle on the nightstand. It was a miserable existence. And that's all I was, existing not living. Moderation was not even in my vocabulary.
You'll find lots of support here, so hang around.
Keep in mind all you have to lose, and we can go lower, if you take that first drink.
Best to you.
